Sights along the way
The Stockholm Marathon course attracts runners with its diverse scenery and enthusiastic cheering.
・Early to Mid-race:After the start, you will cross the Västerbron Bridge and tour the beautiful islands of the city. In particular, the cobblestone streets of the Old Town (Gamla Stan) evoke a sense of history and are surrounded by enthusiastic cheers from tourists and locals. This section is relatively flat, but the beautiful scenery will captivate you.
・Mid to Late-race:Towards the middle and end of the race, you will enter Djurgården island. This island is covered with lush green parks and is a section where you can enjoy nature despite being in the center of the city. There are gentle ups and downs, but the fresh air and the light filtering through the trees will soothe the runners’ fatigue. After that, you will return to the city center and head towards the finish line, crossing several bridges.
・Two-loop course:The Stockholm Marathon features a unique layout that involves running almost the same course twice. This allows runners to experience different views and cheers at the same location at different times, making it easier to get a feel for the race.
Finish point
Finish inside the magnificent Stockholm Olympic Stadium! Finishing in this historic stadium, which was also the venue for the 1912 Olympics, will be an unparalleled sense of accomplishment among marathons around the world, and the countless cheers waiting for you at the finish line will be the best memories.

Strategy
The key to conquering the Stockholm Marathon is to pace yourself carefully in the early stages through the city and over the bridges, and to adapt to the gentle ups and downs of Djurgården island in the middle and late stages. Since it’s a two-loop course, a strategy of getting a feel for the course on the first loop and then increasing your pace on the second loop can be effective. While it’s easy to be captivated by the historic cityscapes and beautiful natural scenery, it’s particularly important to pace yourself, paying attention to the uphill and downhill sections of the bridges and the undulations within Djurgården island. The weather is often suitable for running, so you should be able to perform to the best of your ability.
The Stockholm Marathon is a 42.195km journey woven with history and nature. Run through the beautiful Nordic capital and experience the greatest thrill and sense of accomplishment of your life!
