Strategy

The key to conquering the Lisbon Marathon is to take advantage of the flat and fast initial kilometers along the Atlantic coast to settle into a strong, consistent pace. The challenge is less about elevation and more about managing the mild heat and coastal wind that can sometimes occur. Use the stunning views of the ocean and the river to maintain motivation in the middle stages. As you enter the historic district of Belém and follow the river, utilize the growing spectator crowds for energy to power through the final, fast meters toward Praça do Comércio.

Lisbon, the city of light: a fascinating crossroads between history and modernity

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is a beautiful city surrounded by seven hills. With the sparkling blue Tagus River and the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop, this city where old traditions and modern charm intersect continues to fascinate visitors. In the warm climate, walking along the cobblestone streets will captivate you with the colorful buildings and the Portuguese azulejo (tile art).

If you visit the city of Lisbon, you should first enjoy the spectacular views from the top of the seven hills. The city views from the Santa Justa Elevator and Miradouro da Senhora do Monte are particularly impressive. If you take the No. 28 tram, which runs through the narrow alleys, you can enjoy a trip around the historic Alfama and Bairro Alto districts, which will make you feel nostalgic.

Gourmet food is also one of the great attractions of Lisbon. The sweet aroma of freshly baked pastel de nata (egg tart) will lure you to a café, where the crispy pastry and rich custard will fill your mouth. There are also plenty of restaurants where you can enjoy bacalhau (dried cod) and fresh seafood, allowing you to fully experience Portugal’s food culture.

At night, the sounds of fado echo through the streets of Lisbon. One of the unique ways to enjoy this city is to spend a special time with a glass of wine while listening to the melancholy melodies that touch your heart. In the Belem district, we recommend visiting the Jeronimos Monastery and the Tower of Belem, where you can feel the glory of the Age of Discovery, and experience the history of Portugal.

Lisbon, where historical streets coexist with modern shops and cafes, is a place where your heart will dance just by walking. Why not enjoy your own special trip in this city surrounded by blue seas and sunshine?
