The starting point is Caroline Strasse in front of Hamburg Messe. Course Overview

Starting Point

The course starts at Carolinenstrasse in front of the vibrant Hamburg Messe in the center of Hamburg. The excitement of standing at the starting line, the enthusiasm of the runners around you, and the anticipation of the epic journey that is about to begin will surely give you a push.

Sights along the course

The course of the Hamburg Marathon is a journey through the diverse faces of this beautiful port city. Historical buildings, lush parks, and the lively waterfront will add color to your run.

・2km:Shortly after the start, you will run along the beautiful Alster Lake, a symbol of Hamburg. The calm surface of the lake and the surrounding scenery will gently embrace your pace.

・5km:The magnificent neo-Renaissance city hall will appear before your eyes. Its majesty speaks of Hamburg’s history and authority, and will give you energy as you run.

・10km:Pass through Reeperbahn, known as Hamburg’s entertainment district. The streets are impressive and historical, unlike the hustle and bustle of the daytime. The cheering from the sidelines will also become more enthusiastic.

・15km:Head to HafenCity, where modern architecture stands out. This area, which combines the historical charm of the warehouse district with innovative design, gives off a futuristic energy.

The course passes along the banks of the Elbe River several times. Running while watching the vast river and the ships passing by is full of a sense of openness.
