Overview

The Rio de Janeiro Marathon is a marathon event held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s second largest city.

The course passes through famous neighborhoods such as Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo and Flamengo.

This sea-mountain landscape, with the Serrado Mar Mountains rising inland from Rio’s stunning coastline, makes this course one of the most picturesque marathons in the world.

Rio de Janeiro is famous for its carnival celebrations, music such as samba and bossa nova, and tourist beaches lined with hotels such as Copacabana and Ipanema.
