Overview

The Ottawa Marathon is a marathon race held since 1975 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada’s capital city, during the Ottawa Race Weekend, held the last weekend in May.

The two-day running event includes seven of his races, including the Ottawa Marathon, all starting and finishing at Ottawa City Hall.

The Ottawa Race Weekend also includes Canada’s largest health and fitness expo on the Thursday before the weekend.

Along the Ottawa River, which flows through the city of Ottawa, there are many buildings where you can feel the history of the founding of Canada, and the scenery is so great that it is called “the most beautiful capital city in the world.”

Course

The Ottawa Marathon course is a scenic and challenging route that takes runners through the heart of Canada’s capital city. Here are some key highlights of the course:  

Start and Finish: The race begins and ends at Ottawa City Hall, a historic landmark located in the downtown core.  

Parliament Hill: Runners pass by Parliament Hill, the seat of the Canadian government, and enjoy stunning views of the Ottawa River.  

Dow’s Lake: The course takes runners around Dow’s Lake, a picturesque lake surrounded by green space.  

National War Memorial: Runners pay tribute to Canadian veterans at the National War Memorial, a moving experience for many participants.

Dominion Arboretum: The course passes through the Dominion Arboretum, a beautiful botanical garden with a diverse collection of plants.  

Rideau Canal: The race features a scenic stretch along the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  

Rockcliffe Park: A recent addition to the course, runners now enjoy a scenic tour of Rockcliffe Park and the Rockeries, along the Rockcliffe Driveway.
